Circle of 4ths returning towards I

This consists of a return in the direction of I using the circle of 4ths, e.g:
VIx - IIx - V - I
iii - VIx - ii - V - I
or IIIx - vi - ii - V

The chords in the sequence may be used diatonically (i.e. iii - vi - ii - V - I) or changed to dominants, or altered ( e.g. IIIx - bIIIx - IIx - bIIx ).
The sequence could contain upwards from 2 chords.

The sequence ii - V - I is categorised specifically as 251.

There is a vague distinction between this paradigm and Turnaround. Turnaround is more likely to be used when the harmony is essentially static, and a iii-VIx-ii-V (for example) is used to add interest, or at the end of a section (resolving to I at the start of the next section).

A sequence containing IIx followed by ii is categorised specifically as Circle of 4ths via IIx.

A sequence starting from bVIIx (substitute for IIIx) is categorised specifically as Circle of 4ths from bVIIx.

A sequence starting from IV (substitute for VIIx) is categorised specifically as Circle of 4ths from IV.
